Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry; DCCI — four decades of excellence The feats that Late Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, architect of modern Dubai, accomplished, stood as tall as the towers that subsequently came up in Dubai, before his legacy was passed on to his able sons. The idea of a Chamber of Commerce took root at in 1965, it was established by a decree. Late Sheikh Rashid was cognisant of the important role a Chamber of Commerce would play in Dubai’s development and was eager to see it succeed. DCCI began with 450 members with its management assigned to a 12-member Board of Directors. The Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry has been playing a crucial role in helping improve the business climate of Dubai. With a vision to be the recognized indispensable source of competitive advantage for the business community in Dubai, it’s well on its way to achieving its mission of being their first choice for support and assistance in all their endeavors. DCCI ensures all this by offering value-added services such as Data Management and Business Research, Mediation, State –of-the art Library, Arbitration, Trade Mission and Delegation, Trade fairs, Convention & Exhibition, Foreign Relations, Entrepreneurial Training, Commercial Services and Business Policies. Daily operations at the Chamber comprises of tasks such as issuing certificates of origin, registration of members, certifying commercial documents, receiving business delegations, serving business groups. Currently Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry is servicing around 80,000 members & has formed 19 business groups representing various sectors and initiated the Dubai Business Women Council. The many initiatives of DCCI contributing towards the progress of the business community are Dubai International Arbitration Centre, Dubai Ethics Resource Centre, Dubai University, Dubai Trade Point, Credit Rating Services, Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Business Awards and Dubai The City That Cares, an annual campaign directed towards boosting the retail & trade sector and aiding the local & international charity organizations. The DCCI has notched up an exceptional string of achievements in the four decades since its institution. Its members and officials, with the strong and unflinching support of the authorities in Dubai, have helped the organization achieve excellence in all its ventures. It continues its onward journey into a future that looks more promising than ever before.
